class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chelsea have said they will not impose a pay cut on their\nfirst-team squad in response to the coronavirus outbreak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the Premier League side added Saturday they had asked\nplayers to continue donating to charities during the ongoing pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has been reported the west London club have been in talks\nwith their players about a salary reduction of around 10 percent in a bid to\nreduce costs at a time when football has been suspended because of the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That figure, however, is significantly lower than the\nPremier League\u2019s suggestion of 30 percent for all clubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But that has not stopped the Stamford Bridge side from\ntaking their own course of action as they highlighted the #PlayersTogether\ninitiative launched by Premier League players earlier this month, which aims to\nraise and distribute funds for charities supporting Britain\u2019s state-run\nNational Health Service (NHS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are grateful to the team for having played their role in\nassisting the club with community activities as well as all the charitable\ncauses they have been supporting in their respective home countries and through\nthe Players Together initiative supporting the NHS,\u201d said a club statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement added: \u201cAt this time, the men\u2019s first team\nwill not be contributing towards the club financially and instead the board\nhave directed the team to focus their efforts on further supporting \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Blues also said they would not be taking advantage of\nthe UK government\u2019s coronavirus job retention or furlough scheme, with casual\nworkers and matchday staff being compensated by the club through to June 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Aston Villa announced they had reached an\nagreement with players, first-team coaches and senior management to defer 25\npercent of their salaries for four months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the Premier League strugglers added they would not be\nfurloughing staff, with chief executive Christian Purslow saying: \u201cOur players\nand staff feel great solidarity with the many clubs in the football pyramid who\nhave financial problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe believe it is right and proper that the Premier League\nas a whole takes action on its finances collectively to enable it to be able to\ncontinue to provide vital funding throughout the game in England.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Newcastle and Norwich are currently the only two Premier\nLeague clubs using the furlough for some of their non-playing staff, while\nLiverpool, Tottenham and Bournemouth were all forced into U-turns after their\nplans to use the scheme were met with widespread
