Our film is really nominated for an OSCAR!!!!!!!\u201d the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo from the film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cKing Richard\u201d received nominations for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Editing and Best Original Song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is CRAZY!!!!!!! From Compton to Wimbledon to Academy awards,\u201d Williams added. \u201cEveryone can dream. And your dream can come true. Ok I am definitely crying this morning. Congrats to the entire film and crew.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tennis great thanked the actors in the film, including Will Smith (who plays the Williams sisters\u2019 father, Richard, and received a Best Actor nomination for his role); Saniyya Sidney (who portrays Venus) and Demi Singleton (who plays Serena).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She also thanked Beyonc\u00e9, who scored a Best Original Song nomination for the song she co-wrote for the film, called \u201cBe Alive.\u201d It is the singer\u2019s first-ever Oscar nomination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCongrats to EVERYONE I did not \u201c@\u201d as I am so emotional,\u201d Williams added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Williams and her sisters, Venus and Isha Price, were executive producers on the film, which was produced by Smith\u2019s production company, Westbrook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Smith previously said portraying Venus and Serena\u2019s father was one of his \u201cgreatest honors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Originally published at Huffpost<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;From Compton to Wimbledon to Academy awards,&#8221; the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion said.
