The Federal Government has closed Haufei Restaurant and\nMall, a Chinese eatery in Lagos State, for refusing to serve Nigerians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission,\nin a tweet on Saturday, said the staff of the restaurant, located on 33 Aboyade\nClose, Victoria Island, admitted that it was the business policy of the owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cToday, FCCPC closed Haufei restaurant and Mall 33 Aboyade\nCole, VI, based on credible intelligence and surveillance that the business\ndeclines service to Nigerians. Staff of the business admitted this is the\npolicy and our operatives experienced same. Both now closed for further\nregulatory action,\u201d the tweet read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tweet was accompanied by photos of the sealed\nrestaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some Nigerians had earlier shared their experiences on\nsocial media, wondering why workers at the restaurant refused to serve them\nfood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One Folabomi had shared a video of herself in front of the\neatery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said, \u201cSo, my friends and I have been asked to leave\nthis Chinese establishment, a restaurant o, simply because we are blacks. In\nNigeria!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur only option is to take out, but we cannot physically\nsit down and eat at the restaurant. As you can see, this has turned me to a\ncrazy person. I don\u2019t joke with my food,\u201d she also wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An Instagram user, @coco_nutter, said, \u201cI don\u2019t understand\nhow this is even possible.
