{"id":896,"date":"2020-03-23T11:55:11","date_gmt":"2020-03-23T10:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/towncryyers.com\/?p=896"},"modified":"2020-03-23T11:55:16","modified_gmt":"2020-03-23T10:55:16","slug":"be-wary-of-emir-sanusi-group-urges-yoruba","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/towncryyers.com\/index.php\/2020\/03\/23\/be-wary-of-emir-sanusi-group-urges-yoruba\/","title":{"rendered":"Be Wary of Emir Sanusi, Group Urges Yoruba"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Be Wary of Emir Sanusi, Group Urges Yoruba<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Segun James<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Pan-Yoruba group, the Yoruba United Front (YUF), has called on the people\nof the Southwest to be wary of the deposed Emir of Kano, Mohammed Sanusi,\nsaying his (Sanusi) antecedents have shown that he hates the Yoruba people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group in a statement signed by its National President, Alhaji Raimi\nAli, and National Secretary, Deacon Samuel Aderanti, said it was surprised that\nSanusi, who had earlier declared the Yoruba people as the problem of Nigeria\nwould seek asylum in Lagos (a Yoruba state).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the YUF, \u201cWhat does Sanusi want? That is the question every\nright-thinking Yoruba person should be asking, and why is he taking refuge in\nYoruba land now that he has a problem with his kinsmen?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Yoruba people will never forget the diatribes of Sanusi who excoriated\nthe icons of Oduduwa land in a 1999 speech where he described the entire Yoruba\nleadership as an \u2018Area Boy\u2019 institution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group warned Yoruba leaders and politicians to be wary of the antics of\nSanusi, saying he has a mission to achieve, even as they wonder his choice of\nLagos and not Kaduna or any other northern city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It alleged: \u201cHe lambasted Chief Obafemi Awolowo and other revered Yoruba\nleaders in petty, bitter, tribalistic usages. He even claimed that Alhaji Shehu\nShagari was overthrown in 1983 because Awolowo lost the presidency!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is rather ironic, sickening and unacceptable that the same Sanusi will\nchoose the Yoruba heartland which he once condemned in the most violent\nlanguage as a place of succour when his people have disowned him. We urge our\npeople to be wary of this man whose agenda and purpose are puzzling and\ndubious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe hereby warn Yoruba leaders not to allow Sanusi, who is an ethnic bigot,\nto systematically build a Fulani camp in Lagos.
