The marital crisis between former Super Eagles\/Manchester United of England\nstar, Odion Ighalo and his wife, Sonia has taken a new turn. Ighalo\u2019s wife\nreignited marriage trouble rumours on March 20, with change of her last name on\nsocial media. Sonia reverted to her maiden name \u201cAdesuwa\u201d, weeks after she\nshaded her husband over his sister\u2019s death. Though, early this month, she\nsuppressed claims of going through a divorce with Odion via an Instatory post\nwhich read: \u201cTo those of u panicking\u2026.Jude and I are still traditionally and\nabove all legally married, No leave no transfer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sonia has however reverted to her maiden name after Ighalo ignored her\nbirthday on March 20. Sonia whose Instagram handle was @sjighalo24 before now, now\ngoes with @desuwa30 on same social media platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Last year, Sonia ignited speculation of a marital crisis after dropping\nshades via her Instastory, in which she alleged that Odion staged a party\nbarely a week after he lost his sister. She also insinuated that he was\n\u201ccelebrating in the name of an orphanage\u201d, while his sister\u2019s children who are\nnow orphans were in deep pain in Canada. Her recent move of changing her\nInstagram handle from @sjighalo24 to @desuwa30, led to renewed speculation of a\nmarital crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A closer look at the couple shows that they are no longer together as\nhusband and wife. After deleting each other\u2019s photos on their respective social\nmedia pages, Odion and Sonia have now taken off their wedding rings and the\nlady has reverted to her maiden name after the footballer ignored her birthday\non March 20, 2020. Although she claimed that her husband woke her up with a\nbirthday call. A quick check same day on Instagram had also revealed that Odion\nwas active on social media, though ignoring his \u201cestranged\u201d wife\u2019s birthday.\nHis last Instagram post shared on March 20 came with the caption\n\u201c#imissfootball #itmustendinpraise\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The comment section of the post was however turned off. The footballer has\nalso ditched his wedding and no longer appears with it in public. Reacting to\nthe troll comments that ensued thereafter, Sonia stated that those coming at\nher never knew her husband when he was in lower clubs and when he missed a goal\nat the World Cup in 2018. She also insinuated that she was present when Odion\nsigned a six months contract with Manchester United in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Manchester United star met and fell in love with his young wife in\nItaly more than 11 years ago and they have children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2018, the Ighalos wowed Nigerians with their beautiful Christmas photos.\nIt was during Christmas same year that the footballer celebrated the opening of\nhis mansion and gifts Sonia a brand new Range Rover Sport to celebrate her as\nwell. He posted pictures with friends and family members during the housewarming\nparty. Sonia had also taken to her social media page to share videos of the new\nbuilding and the celebration on her Insta story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The beautiful lady also prayed that God should continue to bless her\nhusband. As they used to be the envy of Christmas photos, last year, they never\nposted any picture of their family to celebrate Yuletide. Rather, the ex-Super\nEagles star posted photos of himself alone to wish his fans a happy new year.\nThey also did not celebrate each other on their 10th wedding anniversary last\nyear which was looked out for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However they did celebrate during their ninth wedding anniversary with a\ndinner in 2018. It was star studded with celebrity musicians, comedians and\nactors. Back then, commemorating their ninth wedding anniversary, Ighalo posted\na cute picture from the night party with the mother of his kids and captioned\nit with a simple message: Happy anniversary to us#emo\u2026 @ighalojude \u201cHappy\nanniversary to us.\u201d The anniversary message was completed with hashtags such as\n\u201c#9years,\u201d \u201c#nov14,\u201d \u201c#blessed\u201d and \u201c#Godisthegreatest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The duo had unknowingly reacted to the trending rumours of their marriage\ndispute as they deleted each other\u2019s pictures from their Instagram pages. Their\nInstagram handles further showed that the striker and his wife, who are fond of\npraising each other on the Instagram, have deleted all the posts that link them\ntogether, hence giving considerable room for the roving rumours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The happenings in the home of the Ighalos never revealed anything strange\nas it is with most homes where the couple acknowledges each other. To the\npopular footballer, who made the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations\u2019 top scorer with\nsix goals, \u201cMy wife has been very crucial to my impressive career. She has been\nable to build a good home and she makes me and the children happy. She is\neverything to me.\u201d A proud family man who has taken his personal life away from\nfootball doesn\u2019t talk much about his family and relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Odion\u2019s childhood sweetheart was once asked her challenges of getting married\nto a footballer. \u201cThat one is not easy o,\u201d she responded. \u201cMany people see us\nin the public as if we are always happy but they do not know what we go through\ninside but by the grace of God, we are pushing on.\u201d She even took it further to\nexplain that decisions on the moves to make. \u201cYes, as a wife, we need to decide\ntogether for his benefit, for the benefit of the children and for everybody\nbecause he is not single but married with three kids. There\u2019s nothing much\nthat I really do behind but I do encourage him as my husband anytime he\u2019s out\nthere playing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sonia doesn\u2019t take it mildly with any perceived threat or infringement to\nher home. Instances abound. There was a random lady who showed affection to her\nhusband on Instagram post. Jude Ighalo\u2019s wife swiftly called the lady out,\nafter noticing what the lady wrote to her husband on a social media post about\ntheir match against Zambia during a Nations Cup qualifier. The random lady,\nthough appeared to be married with two kids, had called the football star\n\u2018babe\u2019. Mrs. Ighalo took a screenshot of the post and wrote; \u201cBitch always want\nto show yourself, @iamhelenbrown #shametowomanhood#olosho\u201d. Another instance\nwhen she called out her brother in-law on social media for using their house\nfor a party while they were away. She threatened to disrupt the planned party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Odion travelled to Europe for the first time after a FIFA agent discovered\nhim, and first played as a professional in Lyn Oslo \u2013 Norway where he scored\nnine goals in 20 games before moving on to Udinese \u2013 Italy where he scored a\ngoal in six appearances.
