Amaechi, Chinese Loans & Probe

Rotimi Amaechi and Chinese Contractors
Rotimi Amaechi and Chinese Contractors

Not long ago Rotimi Amaechi confessed that he came into politics because of unemployment. This same Amaechi denied funding for the Maritime University in his Niger Delta and recommended its shutdown but spearheaded the establishment of a Transportation University in Buhari’s backyard. Whenever I think of Amaechi, I understand why we are where we are today. We are a nation filled with unprincipled, unethical, and callous leaders who only care about enriching themselves. Before we forget, Rotimi Amaechi was also the one that allegedly bankrolled much of Buhari’s campaign resulting in the present predicament we find ourselves. Amaechi’s uselessness is unprecedented in many ways. The trailers gridlock in Lagos that has killed many and continue to drain time and resources could easily be solved by diverting maritime traffic to ports in the Niger Delta. But no, Amaechi is in charge and would be looking for what is in it for him or what pleases the top brass in APC and enhance his ambition.

The Chinese are a growing and present danger. After experiencing imperialism from the western world, China is now the new imperialist. All the developing countries doing business with China are often regretful of starting any trade or partnership with China, unlike the beneficial relationship that emerged between the United States and South Korea. From the Americas to Africa and Asia, the Chinese are leaving a trail of tears, blood, and poverty. The fake drugs and substandard vehicle spare parts that have killed many Nigerians are principally from China. Loans from China have been reported to include clauses that place key national infrastructures like a port in the hands of the Chinese in the event of defaults that are almost bound to happen. It is this same China that Amaechi wants nobody to investigate their dealings with the fear we would scare them and other foreign investors. The truth is that there is hardly any contractual government agreement or memorandum of understanding that does not significantly enrich government officials that are involved from minister to ministry staff. Herein lies Amaechi’s apprehension and attempts to scuttle any possible probe.

Whistleblowers within and outside the ministry should blow their whistle. Leakers should sleekly release their leaks. Nigeria must be free of evil and unreasonable men. A healthy Nigeria needs one less Rotimi Amaechi. A prosperous Nigeria cannot have an Amaechi being at the helms of affairs in transportation or any other ministry for that matter. Over the years we have come to know that because our polity has been so rigged and bastardized, individuals like James Ibori still find their way into leadership, and probes are easily forgotten and forgiven by short-sighted kinsmen. Notwithstanding, we must do our parts hoping one day a leader will emerge that is not as fraudulent as Muhammadu Buhari in terms of fighting corruption and other indexes of governance. We must strive to stripe the motherland of new clones and wannabe Amaechis by obliterating the Amaechis of today before they emerge tomorrow to do the same damages Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi has done in the decades he has been misappropriating public funds.
