W.U.S.E

The objective of setting up W.U.S.E which is an acronym for Write>Upload>Share>Earn is to give you the ability to get your opinion on trending and burning issues aired. The internet and social media democratized the mass media in ways that enable us to be able to reach out to people in our communities and indeed the world like Town Criers did centuries ago.

This democratization is not universal. The infrastructure (internet) is arguably affordable, but the platforms to reach out can present a significant hurdle. For example, setting up a Facebook, Twitter, or Youtube account/channel is free, but getting the right hardware and software to create contents people will watch, like, comment on, and share can be costly.

With Towncryyers, you only need to write a minimum of a sentence for a quote and a maximum of 700 words (or 4321 characters) for an article. This modest contribution can take few minutes to hours depending on what you are writing. And can influence decisions and decision-makers in your community or nation.

W.U.S.E is Towncryyers’ strategy to help you to get your opinion across with little effort if you can write. And earn something if you need the extra cash or validation of your writing skill. Or just because you simply desire to air your views.

The beauty of this opportunity is that anyone that can read can become a writer. We have 2 opportunities for writers and aspiring writers.

2. Articles of the week.

At the end of every week before publishing, our Selection Board selects the best quote and article of the week. At the end of every month 2 winners emerge:

• The Writer of the Month (Quotes) with a cash prize of N 5,000
• The Writer of the Month (Articles) with a cash prize of N 20,000

At the end of the year, the quote and article of the year get N 25,000 and N 100,000 respectively. Winners will be contacted to send their account details for the online transfer of winnings.

GUIDELINES

1. Quotes or articles MUST be your original write-up. If you rewrite another person’s quote or article, it will be disqualified.
2. Winning quotes or articles will be based on:
   • Adherence to W.U.S.E guidelines.
   • The number of likes, comments, and shares from the quote or article from the Towncryyers website and other social media platforms.
   • The relevance of the quote or article to contemporary or trending issues.

3. The selection process is without bias but based on items 2a, 2b, and 2c above.
4. The decision of the selection committee is final.
5. After composing your quote or article, you can send it in 2 ways:
   • By copying and pasting the file on our upload menu. Your name, place of abode, and email must be included in your work.
   • Or by sending an email to quotes@towncryyers.com or articles@towncryyers.com for quotes and articles, respectively.
   • If your quotes or articles are selected for publication, you will get an email from us. If you do not receive an email, it means your works have not been selected. Please try again using our guidelines.

6. The winners of the WEEK are published showcasing the writer’s name and place of abode. The winners of the MONTH get the cash prize and certificate (soft copy).
