In the year of our Lord, October two thousand and twenty, Nigerian youths started a revolution that eventually and unbelievably made President Muhammadu Buhari tender his resignation with his full administration. Before leaving, he set up an interim government of the most trustworthy Nigerians who started a new, peaceful, prosperous, and equitable nation. If you are reading this and you are faithless, you might stop reading. If you are full of faith and you know that this conclusion of the present protest is difficult to achieve but believe it is doable, continue reading. For those who have courageously come out to protest, I salute you. For those who are just protesting via social media, I greet you. And for those still supporting Buhari’s administration, I say your days are numbered. Nigerians were able to boot out smarter and more craftily corrupt dictators like Ibrahim Babangida and Sani Abacha, Muhammadu Buhari will not be an exception. Even with the international connections of Olusegun Obasanjo, he was not able to do a third and continuous term like Mugabe. This uprising has been a long time coming. Nigerians have suffered all kinds of injuries and injustices. From the criminal brutality of the Nigerian police and its special unit SARS to the political brutality of PDP and APC, Nigerians cannot take it any longer. We are done with fighting ourselves when our real enemies range from the police that ought to be our friends to politicians who ordinarily should make policies that will make our lives better.
We must all know that the battle has just begun. Our enemies are plotting on how to counteract what has been done so far. Northern governors have started it, by rejecting the ban of SARS. Brace up, oh compatriots. We must thicken our skin and resolve and conclude what we have started. Freedom is not given freely. Hence, we must continue this fight until this administration abdicates from Aso Rock. We must also vigilantly monitor the interim handlers that will help to manage the transition period. We must be ready to silence the dissenting voices among us like the hired thugs who have caused some painful casualties. We must watch the media Houses like Channels TV, TVC, the Nation Newspaper, and Daily Trust who are the hirelings of our present homegrown imperialist. This is not a sprint race. It is a marathon, and we must be ready to pay this price for ourselves and our children born and unborn. We must seize this golden opportunity and get the best out of it. Which is to birth a new nation or nations. We cannot continue like this. For lack of a better expression, enough is enough.
Moving forward, we must start to articulate our demands. For starters, this government has lost our vote of confidence. They must abdicate, setting up an interim government made up of trusted and tested Nigerians who have not soiled their hands in the past. We must move on from #ENDSARS and start the siblings of many protests
#ResignBuhari or #BuhariMustGo
We must not listen to the appeal for Yemi Osinbajo who has aided and abetted all that is wrong with the present administration and Nigeria. We say #NoToInsurgency which Buhari’s government has been unable to stop. We say #NoToCorruption which this administration has condoned and improved its prevalence. We say #NoToEthnicKillings that this government especially in middle belt and elsewhere have been unable to stop. We say #NoToElectoralFraud. We say #NoToJumboPayForLegislators. We say #NoToForeignLoans. We say #NoToKidnapping. The list goes on and on. And this administration after 5 years, has been unable to find a solution. Time-up! We must throw them out with all the peaceful means that we have in our constitution.
