In a stadium of seventy thousand fans, a group of seven racist fans can start chanting racial slurs whenever a Black player handles the ball and within minutes, thousands of other fans who are not ordinarily racist would start chanting the same slur. A similar but more gruesome event happened during the Holocaust. Ordinary Germans joined Hitler and his Lieutenants in carrying out one of the most avoidable genocide ever recorded. Today, the most recent reoccurrence of this phenomenon is shamefully happening before our very eyes. The American election has been won and lost. Yet the most mentally unfit man to hold the office of the president of the United States of America is ready to do all to debase this most powerful throne, terrestrially speaking on Earth. And like the case of fans in football matches and citizens in a nation, evil and unreasonable men always draw strength from their supporter’s base. They continue to perpetuate their evil ways because of individuals who share and applaud their modus operandi. In the case of Donald Trump, his supporters are ready to destroy the legacy that has produced a democracy where someone like Barrack Obama can be elected twice as a president. They are ready to use the Supreme Court to undermine the constitution and create illegality that can destroy centuries of hard work to please a man who displeases everyone to please himself. A man who can fire and say unprintable things about anyone who does not do his bidding or seems to get more limelight including his most trusted associates. A man that lacks the barest minimum of moral uprightness or integrity. A man that lies and share fake news like a common nincompoop.

A worse scenario is happening in Nigeria. Most Nigerians are convinced that Buhari cannot comprehend the responsibility of leading a nation like Nigeria. Many Nigerians now know that Buhari lacks the most basic knowledge of governance. His administration’s handling of the security infrastructure of Nigeria has left no one in doubt about how bereft of ideas he and his security chiefs are. The irony of this is that Buhari is a retired general. A greater irony is that this was one of his major campaigns promise in the 2015 election. Four years after his first tenure, Nigeria was worse off in every key index of governance from security to the economy. Yet, misguided Nigerians from all works of life still campaigned and voted for him. Today, matters are worse. Nigeria is a failing state and Buhari does not care if Nigeria and Nigerians perish. His wife and family have already relocated to the United Arab Emirates. His cronies in government are already perfecting their plans to relocate before his tenure ends. They are buying havens in nations where their children already school from the ill-gotten funds from government coffers. The legislators who have helped to raise Nigeria’s debt profile to an all-time high value are also perfecting their relocation plans. Yet, the unthinkable is still happening.

Yes, like with Donald Trump, Muhammadu Buhari still enjoys support from individuals who do not benefit directly or even indirectly from his maladministration of Nigeria. Today, the Naira is scandalously falling against the Dollar. Today, bandits kidnap and collect huge ramson at will. Today, the service chiefs are unaccountable to none after their continued costly failures. Today, Leah Sharibu is still in captivity. Today, the prices of goods and services continue to raise the blood pressure of parents. Yet, some of us still support Buhari. If you know any family or friend who still supports Buhari or Trump, you have found someone who is evil and unreasonable. And such individuals cannot be trusted. The type of reasoning that will make them continue to support Buhari and Trump after all their irresponsible acts and policies will be applied in their dealings with you in other regards. They are ready to win by all means. They are ready to support and defend Boko Haram, White Supremacists group, or their local terrorizing militia. These individuals can also use kidnappers against business associates. They can use law enforcement agencies to hoodwink justice against you and yours. You will do yourself a great favor by identifying and noting these individuals for future reference.
