Former Group Managing Director of Access Bank Plc, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, has insisted that for the nation to win the war against graft, it would require a holistic approach where everybody must be involved.

Aig-Imoukhuede, who stated this while addressing journalists on his new book virtually, said corruption had adversely affected the socio-economic fabric of the nation, adding that it is expedient to tackle the ugly menace.

Corruption, he said, goes beyond bribery, saying: “The real issue is that it takes us to a negative cycle. If we don’t deal with it, Nigeria will be a failed state. It is terrible to pay fuel subsidies for petroleum products that were never brought to Nigeria. We need intelligence and science to fight corruption. The same way we all came together to fight COVID 19, that is how we are going to fight corruption.”

He said there are wonderful talents in Nigeria and that Nigerians are one of the most resourceful, talented, and resilient people in the world, but the foundation of the country is faulty.

Specifically, he said four things needed by citizens of any nation include access to healthcare, educational opportunities, opportunity to work, and having access to rights to go into contracts.
