Senator Shehu Sani recently shared the sad story of Hannatu, a pregnant mother of two and a Pharmacist with the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital. He said she was abducted along with others last Friday in Zaria and killed by bandits when she told them she can’t walk. Last week, the son of Senator Bala Na’Allah representing Kebbi South, Capt. Abdulkarim Ibn Na’Allah was murdered by suspected assailants. According to a statement by the Nigerian Police spokesman, Mohammed Jalige, the assassins forcefully gained access into Abdulkarim’s residence at Umar Gwandu Road, Malali in Kaduna metropolis at night and choked him to death. Days ago, the Edo State Police Command confirmed the killing of Olajide Sowore, the younger brother of the publisher of Sahara Reporters by kidnappers around 6 am on Saturday. The Police PRO said, “…suspected kidnappers at about 0645hrs along the Lagos-Benin Expressway by Isuwa, kidnapped five unidentified persons and in the process shot to death one Sowore Felix Olajide, male. A Pharmacy student of Igbinedion University Okada.
If these continuing tragedies that are a direct consequence of the disastrous governance of Muhammadu Buhari are not enough to impeach him immediately then nothing will. But the terribleness of the Buhari misadventure does not end with insecurity one of the major reasons those who trumpeted and supported his candidacy for president. Since his election, it has been one excuse or the other. The greatest excuse yet is the one given last month about the attack at the Nigeria Defence Academy. Buhari’s Gestapo media aide – Garba Shehu, incredulously alleged that the attack was carried out to embarrass Buhari. No reference was made to the office who was killed by the Bandits. One of the most depressing realities of these happenings is that Kaduna State that hosts many of Nigeria’s military personnel and hardware cannot handle the onslaught of the bandits. The loquacious governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El Rufai is presiding over the bloodiest reign of any governor in Kaduna State. Just as his mentor and role model – Buhari is presiding over the worst period in the history of Nigeria in terms of security, economy, and all other key indexes. If you believe the recent declaration of profit by NNPC or growth by the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics is factual, you will believe anything.
Nigeria and many Nigerians will not survive another year of Buhari’s presidency. It is in this context that I call on all well-meaning Nigerians who can still think objectively and fearlessly to do all to remove Buhari from Aso Rock before the end of 2021. I specifically call on Fulanis to gang up against Buhari to remove him from office because they stand to lose more if Buhari continues. Already, it will take uncommon forgiveness, truth-telling, and reconciliation to absolve the assault of the Fulani nation represented by Miyetti Allah, Fulani Herdsmen, bandits, and the emirate council headed by the Sultan of Sokoto. If the Fulanis do not spearhead the removal of Buhari this year, the damages he would have done before 2023 will be virtually impossible to forgive. The Hausas, middle belt minorities, and all other ethnic groups in Nigeria have suffered much from the violence of the Fulani nation and they must start correcting these wrongs before someone else from another ethnic group do what Nigerians from all faith have been praying for.
