Famous singer turned politician, Banky W may have finally revealed that his relationship with super star singer, Wizkid may not be rosy. There have been insinuations that Banky and Wizkid have been avoiding each other and not on talking terms for a while.

While a section of the media reported that Wizkid’s unceremonious exit from Banky W’s record label, Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E) founded by Banky W and Tunde Demuren in 2002 was responsible for the alleged bad blood between them, another section reported that Banky W was not satisfied with how Wizkid has not been giving due credit to the label that made him rich and famous.

But Banky who is currently eyeing a seat at the House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, days back, appeared to have broken his silence on what may be responsible for the frosty relationship between him and his former protégé.

The EME boss in a chat with Bounce Network’s Ebuka on the BlackBox interview series during the week revealed that when Wizkid left EME, he still owed the label three albums. R, however, gathered that Wizkid’s failure to deliver his bargain of his contract with his former label was said to have triggered a wave of hostility between the two music stars

Talking about Wizkid’s exit, Banky W noted that when the singer was ready to leave, he had not fulfilled the terms of his contract and had only released two of the five solo albums stipulated in his contract.

Banky W said, “I think it was a five-album deal, and he had done two solo albums… I think he still owed three more albums, but he wanted to leave. And for me, that was enough because I don’t want anybody to stay where they don’t want to stay.”

When Ebuka asked if he (Banky W) had tried to convince Wizkid to stay, he replied, “No, because I could tell that mentally he was ready to do other things. For me, I just felt like some things are just meant to happen for a season, and that was the season we were meant to work together.”

Banky also addressed Wizkid’s absence at his wedding to Adesua, noting that while he was disappointed, he knows Wiz tried his best.

Banky: “Yes I was disappointed Wizkid didn’t come for my wedding but I know he tried.

“Was I disappointed that he wasn’t at the wedding? I was, but I know he tried because there was a show with a lot of the artists…I think it was One Africa; they were in Dubai.”

He noted that Tiwa Savage had to fly economy to make it to the wedding as there were no seats.

“As a matter of fact, there was no seat in business class, and she took an economy seat because there were no seats so she could make it.

“He called at the time that he was so sorry.”

However, Wizkid did not appear to be happy with Banky W’s claim, as his response to the interview on Twitter suggested he was not bothered. Hours after the interview, Wizkid took to his Twitter page and wrote, “My answer to everything is Lol and Ok. Chop life abeg.”
