Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, yesterday, swore in a 27-year-old lady, Miss Wasilat Adegoke, as the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, and Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetumobi as the Commissioner for Health, making it four women in the governor’s second term cabinet.
The swearing-in took place at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office in Agodi, Ibadan, the state capital. Speaking at the ceremony, Makinde urged the commissioners to drive government policies in their respective ministries passionately and to
follow the policy direction of his administration as captured in his roadmap for sustainable development that will benefit the people.
While charging the new Commissioner for Youth and Sports to ensure synergy and collaboration with other relevant partners, the governor urged her to harness talents and grassroots sports development and prioritise the completion of the second phase of the Lekan Salami Sports complex.
The governor pledged that his administration would improve the health sector from its 50-60 per cent infrastructural performance, as he also expressed confidence that when Primary Health Care facilities across the local wards in the state are fully equipped and staffed, they would relieve the burden on the state secondary healthcare facilities.
Speaking with journalists, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Adegoke, assured residents of the quality primary healthcare services.The commissioner promised to give her best to good governance in the state.
