If you are reading this, you would most likely dislike or like one of the above VIPs according to Fela’s definition of VIP. And most likely, you would have insulted or quarreled with someone who does not share your opinion about them online or offline. I congratulate you if any of the VIPs know that you exist on planet Earth. I celebrate you if their existence has made life better for you. And I appreciate you specially if your children or family members have or will benefit from their leadership. Nigerians are a funny lot. We can also be said to be very gullible in our choices of the leaders we support. In the United States, you can understand why White conservative males support Trump because of the protection of the status quo that supports their privileges. And you would also understand why Black communities will most likely vote Biden because he will maintain Obamacare and other policies that have helped the minority population of America.

In Nigeria, the story is different. Muhammadu Buhari has not added any tangible value to Nigeria and Nigerians. Indeed, his rulership has engendered an era of unprecedented insecurity and corruption. Even the Fulanis, his tribe, are worse off than when he came into power. This is because more than ever before Nigerians now know the difference between Fulani and Hausa. And that Fulanis, as represented by Buhari, El Rufai and the Sultan of Sokoto and those before them, practice the LAW of UNITE and RULE. This is a concept where a tribe uses religious or other affiliations to unite neighboring tribes but only abrogate power and rulership to themselves. This is exemplified in the Emirate structure in northern and Islamic Nigeria. Fulanis populate the stock of Emirs while Hausas like Aliko Dangote pay tributes. A similar occurrence might occur if the minorities of the Niger Delta do not congregate to form their own independent nation if Nigeria disintegrates.

For those laughing at Oshiomhole and Tinubu,  be wise, because you are laughing at yourself. Adams Oshiomhole has lived a “remarkable” life and has a trophy wife. His children and grandchildren are well fed, educated, and doing well. I hope you can say the same about yourself. Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) has the resources and kingmaking infrastructure of Lagos State in his Babariga. His nuclear and extended family are warming up to succeed him as the taskmasters of Lagos and a sizable part of South Western Nigeria. I also hope you can say the same thing about yourself and your children. Muhammadu Buhari’s children have attended or are attending the best schools Nigerian money can afford and marrying the most eligible Islamic bachelors. I hope your children can enjoy the same. Buhari is now rocking the APC boat to fulfill the last part of his inauguration promise of being for… nobody without fulfilling the first part of being for everybody. So, as you castigate, reprimand, insult, and quarrel with yourselves on social media and other places remember who is really laughing at who?
