Actress, Halima Abubakar, has said that entertainers who promote the use of illicit drugs should be dealt with according to the law.

The actress, who is currently an ambassador for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, spoke on what inspired her to join the project. She said, “I have always advocated for good causes. I want to be an agent for a sensitive cause such as this. I was invited to serve, and that is exactly what I will do.”

Maintaining that artistes who promote the use of illicit drugs must face the penalties for their actions, she said, “If we are trying to have a clean and healthy society that works, then penalising the display (of the use of illicit drugs) is a must.”

Abubakar also stated that she chose to live a private life because it made her happy and also because she was tired of controversies that surrounded her industry. She said, “Well, I got tired of it all (the controversies that come with being an actress). I am a private person, regardless of my occupation. A private life is a happy life.”

Speaking on the need for everyone to be financially independent, whether male or female, the actress said, “Everyone needs to be financially stable, regardless of gender. Financial literacy is for everyone. Women should endeavor to have extra streams of income.”
